Have been coming here since we had a family dog as a child. There is nobody I trust more when it comes to my pets than Dr. Stockmal and the staff at American Animal Hospital.
My dog/baby Peanut had gone there several times. Everyone and I mean everyone took that extra time with you. It is not just a job, it's a passion. Unfortunately Peanut got ill when I was in Hawaii, to take care of my brother's estate. He had passed from alcoholism, so if your reading this it does indeed kill.
I will NEVER go to American Animal Hospital ever again, and I suggest you look elsewhere too.
Brought my dog in because she wasn't able to fully open her mouth. Dr. Jones didn't run any tests, didn't even fully examine her - she tried to open her mouth and stopped when my dog let out a yelp, and prescribed her Rimadyl even after I'd told them that she doesn't react well to the drug (diarrhea and bloody stool). Two days later and she's pooping blood and the issue with her mouth/jaw isn't any better. We called and they told us to pick up medicine for her diarrhea and to start her back on the Rimadyl when the diarrhea is under control. That was the last straw.
We are extremely happy with American Animal hospital!... they are very compassionate and caring. We had been with another vet for a number of years and eventually realized his practice was more about the money and had become very jaded .I thank God we found American Animal hospital!!!.in my eyes they are what a REAL veterinarian group should be...We have been with them for years now and I would never go anywhere else....
My 17 year old son was left to care for our pets. Peanut got I'll and was in kidney failure
Most of the doctors and staff there are driven strictly by money so it makes it hard to know when you’ve found a genuine person. I moved to the area about 3 years ago and still drive an hour to see our original vet at FLAH because not one of Americans vets we’ve seen (at least 3 different ones at this point) can hold a candle to their vets and staff. I’ve spent thousands at American (3 of our 4 dogs are/were patients) and every time I call with a simple request regarding the 4th dog the answer is we can’t help you ...unless you set up a full vet visit for the dog!!! Things like filling a basic script, helping administer a vaccine sent by our originating vet, doing an ultrasound requested by our primary vet (who by the way knows Voynick so you’d think there’d be cooperation based on that alone). It’s frustrating, disappointing and sadly, just bad business. Today’s call set me off to write this review so to be fair, I’ll provide the details. My 13 year old dog just went to our primary vet (FLAH Dr.P) for his bi-annual physical and vaccine visit, fortunately he’s been a relatively healthy dog not requiring any emergency visits to American unlike my other pets. To save us a trip our vet gave us the second part of a 2 part vaccine to do at home or as he stated, call American and see if they can help you if you’re uncomfortable doing it yourself.. we’ve been hesitant to do it so today we caved and called to see if they could help us per our vets advice....Well, it started out positive when reception said it shouldn’t be a problem but they had to check with the vet on duty and call our vet. Next thing they call back to state their vet won’t do it for legal reasons in case the dog has a reaction???? Dog just had part 1 done 3 weeks ago and a full workup at primary vet- he’s close to perfect. But of course if we bring him in for a full physical $$$ they can do it? Amazing, for the right price they’ll risk any reaction. For the third time in 3 years, thanks for nothing ......A little customer service goes a long way, if you need advice from a phenomenal animal hospital, call Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital.... I’ll be seeking a secondary vet now for emergencies so if anyone reads this and has a recommendation, please post it!!!!!
Booked an appoint with @rockawayah328. The doctor explained all the possible causes then ran a blood test. She ended up testing positive for Lyme, which could have been the cause of her extreme pain. The other possibility is that the Lyme led to an autoimmune disease - the results for that test will come back in the next few days.
